April 12 – May 12, 2023
Quinn Gallery, USC Fisher Museum

Presented in collaboration with local art organization Arts at Blue Roof, In Community: Arts at Blue Roof at USC Fisher brings together works of art that explore the complexities of our human experience, as well as the relief and support that community can offer. The five 2021–2022 Arts at Blue Roof artists-in-residence—Connie Martin Trevino, Carmen Mardónez, Noni Olabisi, Dalia Palacios, and Robin Strayhorn—manipulate clay, paper, recycled bedsheets, paint, and other media as they investigate themes of gender, race, religion, and mental health. Through the resulting art objects, the artists declare creative freedom, conjure fantastical underwater creatures, offer prayers to the ancestors, honor spiritual teachers, and explore motherhood.

In Community: Arts at Blue Roof at USC Fisher is curated by Elissa Watters.
