USC Museums Student Educator Program
In this program, students are trained to facilitate conversations in the galleries and lead tours of both the permanent collection and special exhibitions at the USC Pacific Asia Museum (off-campus in Pasadena) and The USC Fisher Museum of Art (on campus). They learn to engage visitors of all ages and backgrounds with the museums’ diverse works of art by leading dialogues and making personal connections.
As part of this paid position, USC students get hands-on training in the latest museum education strategies, gain public speaking experience, and interact with various museum departments. They are supported through mentorship and ongoing training sessions throughout the year, focused on further developing gallery teaching skills. USC PAM’s off-campus, Pasadena location, provides students with a unique opportunity to engage with the greater communities of Los Angeles and the San Gabriel Valley. Their work at USC Fisher allows them to engage with youth from the local USC area in a unique experience for high school students as part of the Fisher School Partnership Program.
