⠀
MANY THANKS! To our partners @uscshoahfoundation for your collaborative spirit, your tireless work collecting testimony, and your creative technologies. To artist @davidkassan for your talents and for illuminating these remarkable humans. To our visitors for your time spent engaging with all facets of the exhibition. ⠀
⠀
And finally we wish to thank the Holocaust survivors whose stories and likenesses we have come to know. Your strength and resilience is awe-inspiring. ⠀

Instagram post 2193087563002368610_234118632 David Kassan's paintings truly depict the soul of his subjects. And today and tomorrow are the final days to experience 'Facing Survival' at the Fisher Museum.⠀
⠀
This is Andre Holten who was born 1937 in the city of Hilversum in the Netherlands. Despite being Jewish, he was brought up as a Protestant. He went to a parochial school and stayed with various families. He adopted an assumed name, Hans Van Heel. The foster family that became his guardians and eventually saved his life were the Meijers -- Johannes Petrus and Petronella. ⠀
⠀
He was once nearly discovered during a police raid while with another family. After the war, Andre again stayed with the Meijers. He immigrated to the United States in 1956 and changed his family name a few years later to Holten, to make life easier. Andre served in the Air Force and later worked as a civil servant in Albuquerque, N.M. ⠀
